SCELC

Dear Faculty,

I want to inform you of a service which is now available to Life faculty members. As a member of the Statewide California Electronic Library Consortium (SCELC), we are eligible to participate in the Reciprocal Faculty Borrowing program. There are currently 36 institutions participating in this program, and Life has recently joined the group. What does this mean for you? If, during your research, you find a book or article, which is located at one of the participating institutions, you now have the ability to gain access to the item. Of course, each institution has its own set of lending policies, which may restrict access, but for the most part, you now have an avenue to access a broader array of scholarly materials.

The borrowing program is intended for faculty members who can visit the lending library to acquire the materials. For faculty members who are unable to visit the lending library, it may be possible to make other arrangements, but this is far from certain and subject to the different library lending policies. The first step in the process is to identify a lending library with the needed resource, then complete the Authorization for Reciprocal Faculty Borrowing Privileges form attached to this email. Next, contact me and we will set up a time to have the form signed. Finally, present the form to the lending library and they we provide you with a library card.
